Ivan Leroy "Si" Selby (1919-1948)

Ivan LeRoy Selby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy A. Selby of Nevada, was born at Fernald January 21, 1919. The family moved later to Nevada where his father has been City Water Works Superintendent for the past 20 years. Ivan attended the Nevada schools graduating with the class of 1939.

As the result of rheumatic fever Ivan developed hear complications from which he was a sufferer for several years. his last position was with the City of Nevada which he had to quit because of his health. Two weeks ago he entered the University Hospital at Iowa City where he passed away early Sunday morning.

He was member of Memorial Lutheran church in which he was baptized and confirmed. For several years he was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Choir and as long as his strength permitted was active in promoting all church activities.

Ivan was married to Wilma Risdal on November 4, 1939 at Roland, Iowa and to this union one daughter, Linda Marie Selby, was born.

Besides his wife and daughter he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy A. Selby of Nevada, his brothers, Robert of Ames, Dick, Victor and Bill of Nevada and numerous other relatives and friends.
