Esther Katherine Elliott
Dec. 18, 1907 to June 10, 1998Esther Katherine Elliott, 90, formerly of Nevada died Wednesday, June 10 in West Des Moines at the Kavanagh House.
She was born Dec. 18, 1907, near Cambridge to Henry and Clara (Hanks) Brown. She married Ivin Elliot on March 12, 1927, in Nevada. She graduated from the Shipley High School. She was a homemaker and helped her husband with farming formore than 50 years on their farm north of Cambridge. She had also worked at Donnelley's for awhile. She had lived at Illahee Hills Retirement Center in Des Moines for the past two years, having moved there from Nevada.
She was a member of First United Methodist of Nevada, the UMW, and was a charter member of the Urs-N-Myne Club of Cambridge.
Survivors include two sons, Lonnie (and JoEllen) Elliott of West Des Moines and Ronald (and Judy) Elliott of Bangor, Maine; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, John Brown of Des Moines; and sister, Thelma Severson of Ames.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on April 15, 1995; an infant daughter, Carole Anne Elliott; and two brothers, Guy Brown and Arthur "Pete: Brown.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 13 at the First United Methodist Church in Nevada with the Rev. James King officiating. Burial was in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Kavanaugh House in care of Hospice of Central Iowa or the First United Methodist Church of Nevada. Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada handled arrangements.
