LUCILLE WHITAKER

Lucille Whitaker, 78, of Nevada, died Friday, June 5, 1981 at Story County Hospital.

She was born July 4, 1902 in Nevada, the daughter of Walter and Carrie Thomas Williams. She attended Center Country School and Nevada High School. On Oct. 3, 1925, she married Elmer Whitaker.

Mrs. Whitaker was a lifelong Nevada resident. She and her husband lived on the farm homesteaded by his great grandfather in 1856. She worked for Nevada Poultry for several years and was a member of the Nevada United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Everette and Max Whitaker of Nevada and Walter Whitaker of Boone; a daughter, Dorothy Thompson at Nevada; two brothers, Irven and Verle Williams of Nevada; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband in 1977.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 9 at the Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, with Rev. Harold Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in the Nevada Cemetery.
