Margaret G. Bates
March 5, 1920-April 23, 1999

Margaret G. Bates, 79. of rural Nevada, died at her home of cancer on Friday. Services will be held 10 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Nevada.

Margaret G. Bates was born in rural Nevada to James and Leora Quigley. She graduated from Shipley High School in 1937. On Feb. 11, 1939 she married John Bates at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Nevada. They farmed in the Shipley area for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband; four children, Gary Bates of Ames, Jim Bates of Bullhead, Ariz., Marilyn Nelson of Nevada and Dennis of Nashville, Tenn.; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Wycoff of Nevada.

She was preceded in death by an infant son.

Visitation will be Monday at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada from 6 to 8 p.m.

A memorial fund has been established.
