Melba Pauline Paulson
Oct. 11, 1905 to Oct. 28, 1996Melba Pauline Paulson, 91, of Iowa City, died of a stoke on Monday, Oct. 28, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
She was born Oct. 11, 1905 in Homer, Ill., to Ralph L. and Bessie Blanche (Covert) Darling.
She was raised in the Nevada area and graduated from Nevada High School in 1924. She married Martin Chris Paulson on Dec. 24, 1924, in Nevada. She attended State Teachers College in Cedar Falls in 1925. She moved to Ames in 1926 and lived there until 1971, when she and her husband traveled until 1985. She had been employed by the D.O.T. Credit Union in Ames for 20 years. She was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Iowa City and belonged to a bowling league in Ames for 30 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Ardis O'Dell, of Iowa City; six grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1991 and a daughter, Neva L. Banholzer in March of 1996.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 1, at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada with Pastor Roy Wingate officiating. Burial was in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
