Keith W. Cooper
Oct. 1, 1911-Jan. 5, 1996

Keith W. Cooper, 84, of Ames, died Friday of a heart attack at Boone County Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Campus Baptist Church in Ames, with the Rev. Charles F. Alber officiating. Burial will be at Story Memorial Gardens in Ames.

Keith W. Cooper was born in Prairie City Oct. 1, 1911 to Will Garfield and OraBell (Wolfe) Cooper. Mr. Cooper married Doris Cook June 17, 1938 in Nevada. A member of the Ames High School class of 1930, Mr. Cooper did research on corn genetics at Iowa State University and at two seed companies from 1930 to 1947. He started a company, Keith Cooper and Sons Landscaping, and worked there from 1947 until retirement in 1986. Mr. Cooper, a past president of the Christian Business Men's Committee, was a member of Campus Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Kent Cooper of Ames, Kevin Cooper of Kelley and Kim Cooper of Roland; one daughter, Charity Williams of Binghamton, N.Y.; four sisters, Veva Alleman and Marlys Scott, both of Slater, Northa Glee Cooper of Eugene,Ore., and Marilee Golike of Grand Junction, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, and great-grandchild.

Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his wife, one sister and three infant children.
