Roland Boy Dies After a Long Illness

ROLAND -- Gilford Michaelson, Jr., 8-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilford Michaelson of Roland, died Tuesday at 5:15 p. m. in the University hospital at Iowa City.

The boy had been ill for 38 months, having had three operations for mastoids. He was taken to Iowa City two weeks ago to have cyst removed from his brain.

Gilford was born May 7, 1933, four miles east of Roland. he was a first grade student in school.

Three sisters, Marilyn, Cleone, and janet, survive him besides his parents.

Funeral services will be Saturday afternoon. A short prayer service will be held at the home at 1:30 and services will be at 2 at the Zion church in Hardin county will Rev. H. N. Bakke officiating.

Burial will be in the cemetery near the Zion church.
