R. L. Koontz died Sunday

Ray L. Koontz, 62, route 3, died at his home Sunday at 4 a.m. He had been ill for about two months.

Funeral services will be held from St. Cecelia's Catholic Church Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., the Rev. Philip McDermott officiating. Burial is in the Calvary section, Ames Municipal cemetery.

The rosary will be said at Adams Funeral Home tonight at 8 p.m.

Mr. Koontz was born in Colo, Nov. 6, 1898. A lifetime resident of Story County, he had lived in Ames since 1915. He was a bus driver for Interstate Transportation company for 23 years. Since 1952, he had been employed by the Square Deal Oil Co.

Mr. Koontz was married to Marie Pettit Oct. 13, 1918, in Ames.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Ray J. of Des Moines; two daughters, Mrs. Walter Cottrill of Ames, and Mrs. Virginia Schierholz of Orian, Ill.; one brother Leo of Snohomish, Wash.; one sister, Mrs. Joe Smay of Norman, Okla., and ten grandchildren.
