Rites scheduled for Nevada man

Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 1, at 1:30 p.m. for John Conrad Ernst, 85, who died Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. in an Ames nursing home.

Mr. Ernst had been ill the past year.

He is survived by a son, Purl J. Ernst, 1204 Kellogg Ave., four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one brother, George Ernst, Carlsbad, Calif. he was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Emma in 1962, a son in 1933, a sister and a brother.

Born in Livingston County, Ill., he was a resident of Story County for 64 years. He was a retired farmer.

His body will remain in the Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, until time of service in the Nevada Christian Church. The Rev. Leslie Zimmerman will officiate in the rites. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.
