Robert Mack Buck
Jan. 5, 1919 to Dec. 27, 2003Robert Mack Buck, 84, of Nevada died Saturday,
Dec. 27, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.He was born on Jan. 5, 1919, in Nevada, to William Henry Buck and Anna Lee Conley Buck. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Dorothy Babbitt on April 2, 1941, in Bethany, Mo. He was a self-employed truck driver, retiring in the early '90's. He was a member of the VFW Post #2209 and the William F. Ball American Legion Post #48. he was a member of the Nevada Fire Department for 21 years. he enjoyed woodworking and loved to drive.
Survivors include his companion of 16 years, Karen Chance of Nevada; a daughter, Ruth Doherty of Downey, Calif.; a son, Bob Buck, of Nevada; a brother, Marion Buck of Ames; four grandsons, one granddaughter, two great-granddaughters and an extended special granddaughter Jordan Carman.
He was preceded by his parents, his wife on July 6, 1984, and twin grandsons in 1979.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec 31, at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ in Nevada with Pastor Brice Hughes officiating. Burial, with military rights, followed in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the Nevada Fire/EMS. Arrangements were entrusted to Chet Ryan Mortuary of Nevada.
