Frank G. "Jerry" King
June 2, 1906 to Oct. 23, 1997Frank G. "Jerry" King, 91, of Madrid and formerly of Nevada, died of heart failure on Thursday, Oct. 23, at Des Moines General Hospital.
He was born to William Winfield and Martha Jane (Jones) King on June 2, 1906, in Collins. He graduated as the salutatorian of his class at Nevada High School.
On Cot. 3, 1929, he married Opal Fern Munson in Nevada. He was employed at Nevada National Bank form 1934-1942; and at the U.S. Post Office in Nevada from 1942-1971, when he retired. Living in Nevada form 74 years, he was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church in Nevada, Order of the Eastern Star, Shriners, C.P.I. and was a 50-year member of the Nevada Masonic Lodge. His interests included fishing, golfing, hunting, dancing, painting and spending summers at his Minnesota cabin.
Survivors include his wife, Opal of Nevada; a son, Richard D. King (and wife Donna) of Crown King, Ariz; a daughter, JoAnn King of LaQuinta, Calif.; two grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Central Presbyterian Church with Pastor Brad Braley officiating. Masonic services were held Monday evening and were conducted by the Nevada Masonic Lodge #99. Burial was in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Presbyterian Church in nevada. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled the arrangements.
