Elizabeth J. Hitchings
Sept. 3, 1910 to April 3, 1992

Elizabeth Jane Hitchings, 81, formerly of McCallsburg and most recently a resident of Colonial Manor, Zearing, died at Colonial Manor of pneumonia.

She was born to Vernon and Bessie (Klump) Proctor at Jirah, Wyo. She married Ralph Hitchings at Marshalltown on Oct. 14, 1928. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband Ralph of Zearing; one daughter Donna Jean Sowers of Clarksville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother Robert Proctor of Redding, Calif.; two sisters, Irene Handsaker of Nevada and Ruth Sowers of Wichita, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Doris Hilburn.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Fredregill Funeral Home, Zearing, with Pastor Susan LeBlanc officiating. Interment was in the Nevada Cemetery.
