Funeral services for Vern Proctor of Fernald whose death occurred Friday, July 27, were held Monday at 2 p.m. form the Ryan Funeral Home with Dr. C. N. Swihart officiating.

Two songs "Lead Kindly Light" and "One Sweetly Solemn Thought" were sung by Miss Glennice Picht accompanied by Miss Miriam Hilburn at the organ.

The casket bearers were Ray Chitty, Clifford French, Howard Hilburn, Ira McNatton, Alvin Nelson and Walter Smay.

Masonic services were held at the graveside in the Nevada cemetery by Nevada Lodge No. 99, A.F. and A.M. with W.E. Horine, Master of the Lodge in charge of the services.

Born in Story county, Vern Lee Proctor was born, Sept. 16, 1883, a son of George and Calista Proctor on a farm south of Nevada. His death occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Handsaker after an illness that extended over period of the last nine years.

He attended school in and near Nevada and was graduated from the Nevada high school with the class of 1904. On July 19, 1905, he was united in marriage in Nevada to Miss Bess Klump and a year ago they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Mr. Proctor was member of the Masonic Loge and Easter Star and since 1913 was united with St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fernald.

Survivors are the wife Bess Proctor, four daughters, Doris, Mrs. George Hilburn of Odebolt; Irene, Mrs. Harold Handsaker, Nevada; Elizabeth, Mrs. Ralph Hitchings of McCallsburg and Ruth, Mrs. Marcellus Sowers of Wichita, Kan.; one son, Robert Proctor of Sioux City. Seven grand children and six great grandchildren also survive.

He is also survived by one brother, Harry Proctor of Rivera Beach, Fla.; Miss Frances Proctor of Nevada and Harold Gilbert of Cleveland, Ohio.
