BERNAHRD RIERSON
Funeral services for Bernhard Rierson, 84, of Story City, were held from the Story City Sunset Home chapel Feb. 25, the Rev. Pernie C. Pederson officiating.
Burial was in the Roland cemetery.
Mr. Rierson was born near Stavenger, Norway on April 9, 1876. When 17 years old, he emigrated of America and came to Central Iowa.
He farmed for number of years in the area of Roland and Nevada and for a time before his retirement near Radcliffe, Iowa. He came back to live near Roland and made his home for 12 years with a cousin, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Waugh.
He entered th Sunset Home in Story City on Jan. 15, 1958.
Mr. Rierson died at the Sunset Home in Story City on Feb. 22, 1961, at the age of 84 years after a brief illness.
Mr. Rierson was never married.
He is the last member of his generation in this country. He is survived by a 90 year old sister, Sofia, in Norway, two nieces in Chicago, Ill. and by a number of cousins in this country.
