Graveside services at Nevada Cemetery for Marlowe Edward Ray
Services for Marlowe Edward Ray, 48, of Guthrie Center will be Tuesday, Jan 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Guthrie Center. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the Nevada Cemetery.
Ray died at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 at University Hospital in Iowa City.
Born to Charles and Agda Ray in Ames on Jan 2, 1928, he is the youngest of four children. He was married in 1949. Ray attended the Kansas City School of Watchmaking following his discharge from the service in 1947. He worked with his father at Ray Jewelers in Ames.
In 1954 Ray was appointed Conservation Officer for Guthrie and Adair counties and he and his wife, Joyce, moved to Guthrie Center. Since 1969 he has served Guthrie and Audubon counties.
Survivors include three brothers: Roger of Denver, Colo., Maynard of Ames and Charles of Nevada; his wife, Joyce; and two daughters Marlys Jean and Jewell Michele.
