A. P. Johnsen, 77, longtime resident of Nevada died at midnight at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Sorensen, northwest of Nevada, where he had been taken a few days ago that the daughter might assist in his care. Mrs. Johnsen who had suffered a number of strokes of apoplexy, had been failing for some time. The body in now at the Morfoot funeral home.

"Andy" Johnsen who came to Nevada as a young man with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N.E. Johnsen, was a native of Denmark, where he was born 76 years ago on May 9.

It was three yers ago on March 7 that Mr. and Mrs. Johnsen celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, the affair being held at the Sorensen home and was an occasion of much pleasure to the members of the family and friends. Mrs. Johnsen's maiden name was Sophie Andersen.

For the past many years, Mr. Johnsen had been engaged in the tailor and cleaning business in Nevada, his son, Herman having been associated with him in the business for the past 18 years or more.

He was a man of fine character, honest and upright in his business affairs and a kind and indulgent husband and father.

Mr. Johnsen leaves besides his wife, three sons and three daughters. The sons are Herman of Nevada, who has been ingaged in business with the father, and Sophus and Johnnie of Pasadena, Cal. The daughters are Minnie, now Mrs. Fred Sorensen of near Nevada at whose home Mr. Johnsen passed away; Mary, now Mrs. Frank Melohn, and Vivian, now Mrs. Johnnie Allen of California.

He also leaves three brothers and two sisters. They are N. E. Johnsen of Des Moines; Pete Johnsen of Oregon; Mary Christiansen of California; Anna Jensen of California and Theodore Johnsen of Boulder, Colo.

Funeral services for Mr. Johnsen will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at Memorial Lutheran church, with his pastor, Dr. J. O. Simon in charge. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery.

Word received from the two sons and two daughters living in California, indicated that none of them would be able to make the trip back for the funeral at this time.
