Pioneer Farmer Died Wednesday; Funeral Was Held Today
Funeral services for Theron Bates, 69, pioneer citizen of south of Ames, who died Wednesday afternoon, were held this afternoon at the United Brethren church in Ames, by his pastor, Rev. O. J. Bogard.
Death followed a stroke of paralysis which came Sunday afternoon. Mr. Bates' health had not been good all winter.
Mr. Bates was born in Milsdale, Mich., and came to this county at an early age.
He is survived by his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Rynard Ryerson of south of Ames, Mrs. Glen Emerson of Nevada, Mrs. Mattie Severson of Cohasset, Minn, and Mrs. Nellie Capps of Seminole, Okla., and three sons, Arthur and Clint of south of Ames, and Harley of Elkhart.
