Sharyl Raye (Dobson) George, 70 of Nevada died on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at her home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17 at Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 11th Street in Nevada with Pastor David R. Burling officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 16 with the family present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth Street in Nevada. Burial of the cremains will be held at a later date in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Sharyl was born on June 24, 1943 in Marion Township, Marshall County to Carlton R. and Dorothy (Slingluff) Dobson. On December 21, 1957, she was united in marriage to William Joseph George in Nevada. They owned and operated George's Pizza until their retirement in 2000. She was an assistant manager of the Kum N Go until April of this year. Sharyl loved being with her family and her dogs, Miracle and Bear. She also enjoyed playing bingo.
Sharyl is survived by four sons, Bill (Tracy) George of Nevada, Michael Johnson of Las Vegas, Larry (Tanya) Dobson of Ankeny, and David Mittlestadt of Jewell; a daughter Anna (Randy) Collins of Seymour; six grandchildren Mandi George, A.J. George, Dan George, Michael George, Ryne Dobson and Addison Dobson; a brother Max (Janice) Dobson of Nevada; two sisters Marilyn (Jerry) Smith of Nevada and Kay Bartmess of Boone.
Sharyl was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill on June 27, 2009, a son Daniel George on July 9, 2009, and a brother Larry Dobson.A memorial fund has been established in loving memory of Sharyl for the Story County Animal Shelter.
Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Sharyl and her family.
