From Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care obituary, Ames, Story County, Iowa:

Charlotte Morrissey of Ames left life's temporary mortal journey on August 31, 2013, to begin her immortal peace and happiness, and health. She has joined her adored husband, John, her beloved son, Philip, an infant daughter, and many friends and family members who have been waiting patiently for her arrival.

Charlotte was born to Lola and Carson Williams on February 27, 1926 in Diagonal, Iowa, and had 3 sisters - Bettye, Phyllis, and Helen.

She attended Drake University and was a teacher in Napier. It was during her that time she met the handsome soldier, John Edward Morrissey, who became her husband and father of her children - Rebecca, Mark, Philip, and Kerry. They made their first home in Napier and a little later farmed west of Ames.

Her life's happiness was in her family and friends and was even more joyful as her life was filled with grandchildren - Andrew Siefert, Emily Siefert, Stacey Morrissey, Katie Morrissey, Matt Morrissey, Kellen Morrissey, Kelsey Morrissey, and Cory Morrissey And recently, a great grandchild, Ellys Siefert.

There were many other special people in her life - John's brothers and sisters, including Alice Morrissey a special friend who has been an anchor for the entire Morrissey clan. There are also many nieces and nephews who have always had a big place in her heart as she watched them grow from children running and laughing through the farm on visits to caring adults with their own families. And Beverly Morrissey, her devoted daughter in law who shared her home and life with Charlotte during the toughest of times.

Even though a "city girl" as she was teased about being, she learned to love the farm life and the joy of watching the family learn to love the outdoors and the farm life, too. And those memories were her favorites to the end.

Charlotte's later years were not easy for her, but her heart remained huge and was full of love for her family and the many friends she made along her journey.

Peace be with her.

A gathering of friends and family will be 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care 414 Lincoln Way Ames, with a 11:00 a.m. Friday Sept. 6, graveside service at Ames Municipal Cemetery Ames, Iowa.
