Harold W. Shearer died July 7, 2013 at the Boone County Hospital. Born April 25, 1926, at home in rural Cambridge, Harold was the son of Willard LeRoy Shearer and Martha Kate (Voght) Shearer. He was a graduate of Shipley High School.

He was married to Nina Avise Pritchard on September 5, 1964. Harold farmed in Story and Boone counties and worked on construction.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nina, brothers and sisters Mina & Lester Williams, Ada Fern and Ed Sargent, Donald Shearer, Lucille and Bill Fuss and step-son Ernest James Pritchard.

He is survived by step-daughter, Leah (John C.) Huffman of Omaha, NE, Granddaughter Suzanne Huffman (Andrew) Jed of Pretoria, South Africa, Grandson John Andrew (Ashleigh) Huffman of Omaha, NE, Great grandsons Max Jed and Gideon Huffman, great granddaughter Alia Jed, sister-in-law, Lois Shearer of Marshalltown, and many caring nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Stevens Memorial Chapel, 609 28th St., Ames, from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday July 11, 2013. Funeral service will be held Friday, July 12 at 10:30 AM at Life Pointe Church (formerly First Assembly of God Church), 409 13th Street, Ames. Burial will be held at Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
