LADY DIES WHILE IN DAKOTA

Nancy Thompson Buried This Morning--Passed Away Monday.

Mrs. Nancy Thompson, mother of Jas. W. Thompson of west of the city died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Tom V. Smith of near Parker, S. D. Monday of an illness of about a week.

Pneumonia was the cause of her death. The remains were shipped here for burial arriving here last evening at 6:20 over the Northwestern accompanied by her son-in-law, T. V. Smith and wife. Mr. Thompson was called to her bedside and was there when she died, but he came home at once to make arrangements for the funeral.

Services were held at the Methodist church this morning at ten o'clock after which interment took place at the Nevada cemetery. The remains being laid to rest by the side of the husband, I. B. Thompson who died a few years ago.

Nancy Welty was born on March 24, 1829 at Williamsport, Lycoming county, Penn. On February 24, 1850 she was united in marriage to I. B. Thompson, to which union three children were born, all of whom survive the parent. All were present at the funeral. The children are J. W. Thompson of this city, Mrs. T. V. Smith of Parker, S. D., and Mrs. Mary J. Starker in [], Ill.

In 1855, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson left Pennsylvania and settled in Illinois where they remained until about twenty years ago when they came to Story county. The family and a large circle of friends mourn the loss of a kind mother, a good neighbor and friend.
