Jessie Louise Mathis, 75, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Zearing Healthcare Center. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, April 15 at the Zearing Christian Church (ZCC) at 10:30am with Pastor Patrick Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at the Roland cemetery. Lunch is scheduled after the burial at the ZCC. Visitation will be at the ZCC on Sunday, April 14 from 5 to 7pm.
Jessie Louise Corbin was born February 13, 1938 in Newtown Missouri to Trulin C. and Mary Ellen (Deeds) Corbin. Jessie graduated from Nevada High School in 1957. She was joined in marriage with Glenn Virgil Mathis on June 9, 1962 in Roland. Jessie was a 50-year (PUFL) member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #307 in Roland and a member of the Zearing Christian Church. Jessie retired from General Financial Supply in Nevada in 2002 after 23 years of service. Jessie enjoyed playing cards, putting jigsaw puzzles together, and spending time with her family and friends.
Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a sister, Mary Katherine Corbin.
Jessie is survived by two sons, Michael (Melissa) of Greybull, Wyoming and Kenneth (Mark) of Des Moines; a daughter, Marla Chance (Tommy) of Zearing; two brothers, Herman Corbin (Sandy) of Nevada and Marion Corbin (Kay) of Pottersville, Missouri; a sister Alta Mann (Gordon) of Roland; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren (with 1 on the way); an aunt, an uncle, and several nieces and nephews.
Jessie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Memorials may be made in honor of Jessie to the Zearing Christian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #307 of Roland.
