Carmen V. Hartman
September 20, 1928 - June 28, 2013

Carmen Hartman was born September 28, 1928 to Homer & Beatrice Sheirbon in Braddyville, IA. She passed away on June 28, 2013 in Nevada, IA. Carmen married Wayne Hartman on April 27, 1946 and they were married for almost 47 years until his death in 1992. Carmen and Wayne spent many years moving to various locations for his work in the construction business. They settled down in Clarinda, IA where her daughters Cynthia and Nancy Jo were born and raised. Carmen moved to Nevada, IA to be close to her daughter in 2001.

Carmen was a wonderful, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She especially loved hearing from her many nieces and nephews, and keeping in touch with her lifelong friends from Clarinda. She will be missed tremendously by all.

She is survived by her daughters Cynthia (David) Reed of Nevada, IA, Nancy (John) Bithos of Ninilchik, AK, grandchildren Amanda (Matthew) Gross of Moore, OK, Franklin Bithos of Nome, AK, and Nikki (Robert) Schmelig of Odenton, MD, and her great grandchildren Brittanie Smith, Austin Smith, Lauren Gross, and Kenneth Schmelig. She is also survived by her sisters Lorena Gray and Marion Sheirbon, her sisters-in-law Jean Hartman, Dorothy Hartman, and brother-in-law Fred Long.

In honoring Carmen’s wishes there is no memorial service planned.
