Mildred K. Finnegan
January 24, 1919 - May 22, 2013

Mildred K. Finnegan was born January 24, 1919 in Geneva, Nebraska to Ross and Gertrude (Sughrue) Miller. She was a 1936 graduate of Geneva High School. She received her advanced education at Peru State College in Nebraska where she earned a teaching certificate, and then a business certificate at the University of Nebraska. She taught school for five years earning an “Outstanding Teaching Award”. During World War II, she was employed in the Department of Commerce in Washington, DC.

After the war, she returned to Lincoln to continue her education. On September 13, 1947, she was married to Eugene W. Finnegan at St. Helena’s Catholic Church in Grafton, Nebraska.
In 1949, they moved to Ames, Iowa. She was a 50+ year member and past regent of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, St. Gertrude Circle, and Rosary Club.

She is survived by four daughters, Kathleen Moller of Sugar Land, Texas, Mary Leek and Theresa Finnegan of Des Moines, and Elaine Finnegan of Bakersfield, California; two sons, Tom Finnegan of O’Fallon, Illinois, and Don Finnegan of St. Louis, Missouri; one sister, Mabel Wride of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; one son, Jerry; one daughter, Donna; one sister; two brothers; and her parents.
