Doris E. McCormick
July 7, 1922 - May 15, 2013

Doris E. McCormick, born July 7, 1922, passed away May 15, 2013, at Bethany Life Communities in Story City. She lived in Duncombe, Webster City, Story City and Ames. She was raised on a farm and went to a country school. She married Edward “Ned” McCormick. Doris worked at Eichmans Clothing in Webster City, Sheldon Munn Hotel in Ames as a night desk clerk with her father Frank; the DOT in Ames in the road drafting department; WOI TV in Ames and the ISU Registrar Office, where she retired. Doris, her parents and brother went into partnership and built and managed apartments in Story City.

Her passion was cooking and baking. She made pies, kringla, potato cakes and spritz cookies for the Carousel Tea Room in Story City. She brought many meals to her son, Jim working in the fields. She was a great caregiver for her parents. She and her sister Joan and brother Calvin, did all they could to keep their parents in their own home.

She is survived by one son, Jim McCormick; one daughter-in-law, Martha, of Ames; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Sophie Hoover; her husband, Ned; one sister, Joan Knudsen; and one brother, Calvin Hoover.

Memorials can be sent to Bethany Life Communities, North Wing or to Boys Town.

Well done good and faithful servant.
