STORY CITY - A Story City man was killed last night when the bicycle he was riding was struck from behind by a pickup truck on R 61, 1/4 mile north of Story City.

Michael J. Lake of 726 Hillcrest Drive, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Story City Hospital last night.

Lake was southbound on R 61 at approximately 8:50 p.m. when a pickup, driven by Gary Lee Foster of Gowrie, approached from behind and hit him. Foster said he was blinded by the light of an oncoming vehicle and did not see Lake on the road.

Foster was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was scheduled to be arraigned this morning in Story County Court.
