A. M. Ringheim, 73, Nevada's oldest business man in point of continuous years of service , died at his home at 622 Fifth street on Wednesday* evening following a decline in health which had been of over a year's duration.
He had been confined to his bed for the past six weeks and death due to heart complications, came at about 5:15 Wednesday evening, just on the eve of the new year.
Weather permitting, funeral rites for Mr. Ringheim will be held at Memorial Lutheran church of which he had been a member for over half a century, Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock, followed by interment in the Nevada cemetery. His pastor, Dr. J. O. Simon, will be in charge of the service. For information of the time of the funeral, the MOrfoot funeral home should be called.
Andrew M. Ringheim, through his long years connection with the mercantile business in Nevada, was one of the most widely known men in Story county.
His entire adult life had been devoted to the mercantile business and for the past decade in looking after his father wide farming interests with the added close devotion to his home and family.
Aside from his unusual close attention to his business affairs, he was a man of rather retiring disposition and while always interested in public and civic affairs, left their active administration to others.
His active interests have been devoted to the mercantile interests of Story county during the lifetime of the past two generations and he was wellknown to thousands of people as a man of the most strict honesty and integrity and held in the highest esteem.
Andrew M. Ringheim, a son of Knute and Margaretta Ringheim, was born at Decorah, in Winneshiek county, Iowa, December 5, 1893. He came to Nevada with is mother and sisters in 1876 and attended Nevada high school and later Northwesten university in Chicago.
He had his early mercantile training in the store and under the tutelage of his uncle, the late I. A. Ringheim, Nevada's pioneer merchant and from his absorbed many of those qualities which served both of them so well and made the name Ringheim so well known and respected in Story county.
He started a buiness for himself in 1887 when he parchased a clothing store of William Abbott. He continued in the exclusive clothing trade until 1906, when he merged his store with the drygoods store conducted by his sisters, Misses Hannah and Emily Ringheim, which had been conducted under the trade name of H. & E. Ringheim.
This connection continued until 1920 at the time of the sudden death of Miss Hannah and retirement of Miss Emily, when he assumed full control and active management in which he has been assistants. Since merger the store has been operated under the trade name of Ringheim & Ringheim.
Mr. Ringheim leaves his wife, Mrs. Lulu Wright Ringheim, son Wright Ringheim of Nevada, daughters Margaret, Mrs. Marquis Bowman of Winnetka, Ill.; Ruth, Mrs. Charles A. Hageman of Albany, N. Y.; his sister, Miss Emily Ringheim of Nevada and five grandchildren.
