Lt. Krautner Loses Life in Glider Crash

Lt. Kenneth Krautner, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Krautner of Story City, was killed Tuesday* in a glider crash at Malden, Mo., where he has been in flight training.

Lt. Krautner, 20, has just been transferred from Syracuse, N.Y., two weeks ago to Missouri. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in March, 1943, and received his wings at Yuma, Ariz., Dec. 5, 1943. Krautner was a graduate of the Story City high school.

He is survived by his parents; two brothers in the service, S/Sgt. LaVerne Krautner of Great Lakes, who has arrived home for the funeral; and a sister, Mrs. Burdette Teig, of Story City.

The body will be brought to Story City, and services will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, 1:30 p. m. at the Henderson funeral home. Services will also be held at 2:00 p.m. at St. Petri Lutheran church, in charge of Rev. S. T. Nelson. Burial will be made in the Story City cemetery.
