Obituary
Funeral services for Martha Weecks, 83, Story City were held Jan. 17 at 2 p.m. from the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City with the Rev. Harold T. Masted officiating.
Burial was in the Story City municipal cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Christian, S. W. Williams, Julius Christian, F. G. Janvin, Theroy Wierson and Erick Hove.
Martha Weecks, daughter of Ole and Olina Vila, was born in Norway, June 24, 1877 and immigrated to this country at the age of 16. She stayed with her aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Axel Skromme of Roland.
After working in Des Moines for a few years, she went to Chicago to take nurses training at the Lutheran Deaconess Hospital. She graduated and became a registered nurse.
After nursing in Des Moines for a number of years, she was injured in an accident in 1935 and was unable to continue. She made her home with her sister, Mrs. Nels Fatland, Story City until her death Jan. 14.
A member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City she is survived by her sister, Mrs. Fatland and four sisters and several nieces and nephews.
