Ames and area deaths
Orvie M. Holland rites Monday
Orvie M. Holland, 62, 209 Washington Ave., died Wednesday at Grand Rapids, Minn., after an illness of several months.
Born in Hardin County, he came to Ames in 1943. He had been employed as a night guard by the Iowa State university buildings and grounds department for 23 years.
He was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Hannah*; three daughters, Mrs. Ira Fisher of Grand Rapids, Minn., Mrs. Marvin Lunbeck of Clear Lake and Mrs. Eugene Butler of Des Moines; a son, Charles, of Jacobson, Minn.; three sisters, Mrs. Kermit Haugen of Radcliffe, Mrs. Leonard Elwick, both of Radcliffe and Mrs. Henry Sevde of Ames; seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Orvie Jr.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from the Adams Funeral Home with the Rev. O. M. Severseike officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Story City.
SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Orvie M. Holland, son of Orvie Holland and Malinda Langdon, married Hannah Christenson, daughter of Charles Christenson and Bertha Hanson, on 4 January 1922 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa.
