From unknown newspaper March 1951

Funeral services were held on March 16th for Bryngel Andrias Monson at the Larson - Peterson funeral home and at the Immanuel church in Story City. Rev A. O. Skibsrud was in charge of the service.

Brang, as he was called, was a son of Lars and Martha Monson, an old pioneer family. He was born January 12, 1876 and passed away March 12, 1951, at the age of 76 years and 2 months, after a lingering illness of diabetes.

He was baptized in the St. Petri Lutheran church by the Rev. Nels Amlund and grew to manhood on the old home place, four miles south of Story City.

As Brang never married, he spent all his years in the family home with his brother Ole and sister, Julia. His parents and two sisters preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his departure, his 6 brothers and one sister, namely, Mons, Albert, Lars, Ole and Marten and Julia Monson, all of Story City and a number of nieces and nephews.

Brang requested two songs to be sung at his funeral, "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me", and they were sung by Lillian Alsager, accompanied by Louise Olson.

Casket bearers were Harry Jacobson, Alden Hand, Mondred Bergeson, Julius Knutson, Rhiner Hondred and Harry Nielson. Burial was in the local cemetery.

A number of gifts to the Memorial Hospital and Sunset Home were given in Brang's memory.
