Clifford L. Annis, 86, died on Sunday, November 17, 2002 at Colonial Manor in Zearing, Iowa. He was born in Stratford to Lyman and Cora (Simms) Annis on July 16, 1916. He lived most of his early years in Colebrook.

After high school, he attended the University of New Hampshire. He was graduated in 1941 and was hired by Swift and Co. as a hatcheryman in Centerville, Iowa.

In 1955 he moved to Story City, Iowa, and worked for Ames In-Cross of Roland. After the company closed, Clifford worked for Iowa State University. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Story City and of the Alpha Gamma Roe fraternity, and loved to garden and fish.

Clifford is survived by his wife, Pearle (Peggy) of Story City; a daughter, Elaine Lovig of Story City; three sons, Fred Annis of Indianola, Iowa, Donald Annis of Galesville, Wisc., and Michael of Athens, Ga.; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild, Michele Lovig Braatz.
