Evelyn Hill STORY CITY, Iowa - Evelyn C. Hill, 85, of Story City, died Wednesday, July 25, 2000, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames from complications of a stroke. Services were Saturday at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. The Rev. Rachel Hanson officiated. Burial was at the Roland Cemetery. Mrs. Hill was born on Feb. 28, 1915, in McCallsburg, the daughter of Corneil and Amanda Erickson. She married Reuben Hill on Dec. 31, 1935. She lived in the McCallsburg and Roland areas for most of her life. She worked at Louis Rich in Ellsworth and the Roland Public Library. She was baptized and confirmed in the Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. She enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, quilting, and was known for her kringla and whole wheat bread baking. Survivors include a son, Cyrus Hill of Granger; four daughters, Ellie Sywassink of Muscatine, Beverly Anderson of Peru, Ill., Carolyn Yorgensen of Ames, and Sue Frandson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two brothers, Marvin Erickson of Ames, Selmer Erickson of McCallsburg; four sisters, Mae Lovig of Story City, Hildred Osvog of Story City, Marie Williams of Iowa Falls, and Gerine Corbin of Ames, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
