William (Bill) Huntrods, 88, of rural Collins, passed away February 10, 2013, at Rolling Green Village, Nevada, IA.

William was born on December 30, 1924, to Donald and Vera (Eatwell) Huntrods. He was a 1942 graduate of Collins High School. He married Joyce Peterson on June 13, 1948, in Des Moines. They enjoyed 64 years of life together.

Bill was a farmer all his life and enjoyed every aspect, especially cattle and horses. He belonged to the Collins Christian Church of which he was an Elder, Collins Lions Club, the Cast Iron Club, and the Iowa Draft Horse & Mule Association. He was honored in 2002 with induction in to the Iowa Draft Horse Hall of Fame.

He is survived by his wife Joyce, four children, Lee (Michelle) Huntrods of Rhodes, Marvin (Chris) Huntrods of Collins, Bill (Karen) Huntrods of Harrison, NE, and Jean Foley (Doug) of Ames; eight grandchildren, Kimberlee (Todd) Nietzel of Muscatine, Trisha (Troy) Houge of Collins, Joel (Tara) Huntrods of Maxwell, Jill (Mark) Dell of Collins, Clint (Abby) Huntrods of West Branch, Shyenna (Austin) Engel of Minitare, NE, Chance (Crystal) Huntrods of Valentine, NE, and Mika Huntrods of Harrison, NE; twelve great grandchildren, Allison and Emily Nietzel, Mikayla, Alexis and Erica Houge, Luke, Blake, and Jace Huntrods, Jacob and Logan Dell, Madison and Taylor Engel, and one great-grandson forthcoming; one sister Lucile White of Nevada, and two brothers, Roger (Netha) Huntrods of Collins, and Donald (Judy) Huntrods of St. Charles.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Phillip, and five sisters, Donna Ose, Margaret Struthers, Myrl Lauffer, Iris Lawson, and Mary Huntrods.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 13 2013, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013, at the Collins Christian Church in Collins with Pastor Scott Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Collins Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bill Huntrods Memorial Fund.
