Obituary for Dorothy V. Strum Larson

Dorothy V. Strum Larson, 89, passed away on March 2, 2013 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 6, 2013, 1:30 pm at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. Burial will be at a later date in the Roland Cemetery.

Dorothy was born January 15, 1924 in Hardin County to parents Irvin and Myrtle (Wierson) Goodmanson. She was a lifelong resident of Roland as well as a lifetime member of Salem Lutheran Church. Dorothy married Robert Strum on May 31, 1946. He passed away on November 21, 1988. Dorothy later married Darrell Larson on February 14, 1998. She retired from Iowa State University working as a pharmacy technician for the college of Veterinary Medicine. Dorothy enjoyed reading, playing cards and most of all her family.

She survived by her husband, Darrell; children: Bruce Strum of Normal, IL, Claudia Gross of McAllen, TX, and Kris (Dave) Ness of Grinnell, IA; sister, Jan (Arnel) Hallauer of Ames and Robert (Barbara) Goodmanson of Folsom, CA; five grandchildren: Andrew (Barb), Adam (Chenaye) , Ryan (Jen), Katie (Nick) and Laura (Cody); her step children: Kim (Diane) Larson, and children, Laura, Jill, Shelby and Heath; Gregg Larson (Brenda Royer), and children Maren and Connor and Rod (Nancy) Larson, and children Erin and Brett; six great grandchildren and 10 step great grandchilren.

Preceded in death by: her parents, husband Robert and sister Ihlene Holland.
