OBITUARY

ADOLPH HEMNESS

Funeral services for Adolph Hemness, Story City were held Nov. 9 in the Grace E.U.B. Church, Story City, The Rev. H. W. Riegel officiated.

Pallbearers were Peter B. Larson, Lloyd Ritland, Samuel Twedt, Roy Gaard, Milo Helland and Jasper Erickson. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.

Adolph Hemness was born near Etne, Norway in September, 1877. When 14, he came to the U.S. He learned harness making from Ben T. Holm and worked for him for many years.

Later he served as salesman for the Standard Oil Company for 18 years. After retiring in the early 30's he moved to Story City and has worked in many orchards and yards in the community, a hobby which he thoroughly enjoyed.

On Jan. 6, 1905, he married Ellen Stevens. They had three children. His wife and a daughter preceded him in death. He is survived by two sons, Ernest, El Cajon, Calif., and Harold, New York City, and one brother Magnus Hemness, Story City.
