Enock M. Durby
Enock Magnus Durby, son of Peter and Maren Durby, was born March 26, 1908 on the Durby farm south of Roland. He was baptized and confirmed in the Bergen Lutheran Church, where he was faithful member until he was inducted into the armed services during World War II.
The past 30 years he had lived in Broadus, Mont., Spearfish and Belle Fouche, So. Dak.
He suffered a stroke on August 11 and passed away at the Fort Meade Veterans Hospital, Fort Meade, So. Dak., on Monday, August 19, at the age of 60 years, 4 months and 24 days.
He leaves to mourn his passing, four brothers and five sisters, Palmer of Forest City, Archie of Jewell, Laurence of Stanhope, Ben of Roland, Lydia Sansgaard and Stella (Mrs. H. M. Nassen) of Story City, Ruth (Mrs. Victor Duea) of Nevada, Palma (Mrs. John Beaty) of Marshalltown, and Bernice Caltvedt Roland.
Funeral services were held at Bergen Lutheran Church, Roland, on Thursday, August 22, with Pastor Howard Lybeck in charge. Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Sansgaard furnished the music, with Miss Linda Braathum at the organ. Rev. Ernest Caltvedt spoke in behalf of the family.
Military services were conducted by the members of the Roland American Legion Post. Interment was in the Roland Cemetery.
