From Adams & Soderstrum Funeral Home obituary, Story County, Iowa:

Sandy Arrasmith
April 5, 1944 - January 24, 2013

Sandy Arrasmith of Ames, Iowa, died in the afternoon on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00pm Monday, January 28th at Adams Funeral Home in Ames. The supper at Food at First will be in her honor, and following will be a memorial service up in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church at 6:30pm. Presiding at the service will be Chaplain Henrietta Klarenbeek and Pastor Deanna Pullen.

Sandy Arrasmith was born April 5, 1944, and grew up in Zearing. She came to Ames in the early seventies. Sandy held various jobs during her life, but she mostly loved helping people. Following a serious auto accident that left her disabled, she was most known around Ames for trucking down Lincoln Way in her scooter, with an orange flag on the back. The last few years, as her health declined, she lived at the Abington on Grand. She leaves behind many who have helped and supported her through the years: the Ames police and EMT’s, Mary Greeley Medical Center, Israel Family Hospice House, and her many friends at Food at First in the basement of First United Methodist Church form the basis of her extended family.

She will be missed for her beautiful smile, the twinkle in her eye, and the look of surprise on her face when she was told that we loved her.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, as Sandy had requested.
