Pamela Kay Tolley, 57, of Colo passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN with her loving family by her side. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg, Iowa. Funeral services will be on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church with Pastor Kathy Sandmann officiating. Burial in the Colo Cemetery will follow her service.
Pamela was born in Knoxville, IA on November 3, 1955 to Charles and Doris (Shappell) Piekema. As a young child her family relocated to the Roland. She attended school at Roland-Story and graduated from Roland-Story High School in 1974. Following high school she attended Central College, in Pella, and graduated with a teaching degree in 1978. Pamela married Gary Tolley on February 26, 1977 at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. She taught school at both Woodward State Hospital School and at the Ames Middle School for 33 years before her retirement in 2010. Pamela enjoyed spending time with her family most especially her grandchildren, camping, and the county and state fair. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg. Those left to cherish Pamela’s loving memories are her husband of 35 years Gary, of Colo; her children Parry Tolley of Colo, Kindra (Martin) Smith of Colo, Camron (Bridgett) Tolley of North Liberty, and Breann (Justin) Cole of Ames; her 4 grandchildren Trenton, Ava, Gabrielle, and Rylee; her brother Nick (Marian) Piekema of Indianola; and her mother Doris Piekema of Des Moines.Pamela was preceded in death by her father; grandparents; 2 brother-in-laws David and Noel.
