AMES PIONEER TAKEN BY DEATH
Mrs. Abbie Tilden Drake Summoned at Home in Chicago;
Had Formerly Resided for Many Years in Ames;
Sister of F. C. Tilden
Mrs. Abbie (Abigail) Tilden Drake, sister of Fred C. Tilden, 415 Clark Avenue, died in Chicago on October 25, Monday. Funeral services will be held at the L. C. Tilden Home, 605 Kellogg Avenue, October 28, Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Interment will be made in Oakwood Cemetery here by the side of the father, the late Julius Clark Tilden, complying with Mrs. Drake’s request. Fred C. Tilden is the only surviving immediate relative being the last of five children who grew to manhood and womanhood.Born in Rochester, Windsor County Vermont, Mrs. Drake came to Ames, Story County, Iowa some 51 years ago, about the year 1869, following her brothers Fred and George to this city. She was 72 years of age last April. Following the death of her husband in Nebraska some 20 years ago, Mrs. Drake came to Ames and remained here for some time before going to Chicago where she has made her home since. She has visited here off and on since leaving Ames and was well known to many, particularly the older residents of this city.
