Walter V. Quam, Roland died
Walter V. Quam, 53, Roland, died Sunday at Veteran's Hospital, Des Moines. He had been in ill health since Sept. 30, 1972 when he was injured in an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Salem Lutheran Church in Roland with the Rev. Everett Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Roland Cemetery.
Mr. Quam was born Jan. 10, 1920 at Roland.
Mr. Quam was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Leota; a son, Larry, Des Moines; two grand children; four sisters, Mrs. Laura Maroney, Nevada, Mrs. Esther McCloud, Spencer and Mrs. Wilma Lobese, Hayward, Calif., and Avis Robinson, Tucson Ariz.; and two brothers, Verne Quam, Burlington and Reuben Quam, Oelwein.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Ida Quam; two brothers and a sister.
The body will lie in state at the Soderstrum Funeral Home at Roland from Tuesday morning until 9 p.m. Tuesday.
