From McLarens Resthaven Chapel & Mortuary obituary, West Des Moines, Iowa:

Della "Dee" Mae Dixon
February 21, 1913 - October 21, 2012

Dee Dixon passed from this life on October 21st, just short of her 100th birthday. She was born on February 21, 1913 in Union County, Iowa to Lawrence and Elsie Peterson. She graduated from Creston High School and attended Morningside College.

In 1940, she married Robert L. Dixon, and the couple moved around the country during the early part of his Army service. She and their son lived in Ames while Bob was overseas. After the war, Bob and Dee lived in Des Moines for 40+ years before retiring to Rancho Bernardo, California. In 2002, she moved back to Iowa to be near her family. She lived independently at Green Hills Retirement Community until days before her death at the Israel Family Hospice House.

Dee was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished her family and her home. She was active in the community and her church. She enjoyed being a member of PEO and TTT and playing in bridge circles with her many friends.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Dennis Dixon (Julie) of Cambridge; grandchildren Nicole Dixon of Port Charlotte, FL, Josh (Bridgett) of New York City, and Jessica Disch (Andy) of Edina, MN; and great-grandchildren Marie Elise, Coleman, and Sophie Frech, and Jordan Disch.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers Edwin, Albert and Paul, and her sister, Lola. Private burial services and a celebration of her life will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ames' Collegiate Presbyterian Church, University Ministry Endowment.
