Donald Oxenreider

DIED: November 12, 2012
LOCATION: Ames, Iowa

Donald Ray Oxenreider, 84, passed away November 12, 2012 at Riverside Manor in Ames. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday, November 15th at New Life Church, 6036 NE 12th Ave, Pleasant Hill, Iowa. There will be a visitation one hour prior the service. Burial will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.

Donald Oxenreider was born June 3, 1928 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from East High School in 1946. He joined the United States Army where he spent most of his time in Japan. Donald graduated from William Penn College and taught and coached in New London, Granger, and Ankeny. He worked for Phillips Petroleum and moved to Creston to run the gas business. He later worked for the Omaha World Herald. Donald was a member of Za-Ga-Zig Shrine and was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his son Craig of Aurora, Colorado; his daughter Debra (Mark) of Ames; two grandchildren Jenna and Connor; and sister Mary Lou (Don) Paul of Inglewood, Colorado.
