Charley Howlett from Mt. Pleasant, in 1876-7-8 a student in the Agricultural College, was hung by a mob at Bloomington, Illinois the other day, for shooting the jailer. He was imprisoned there under the name of Pierce for horse stealing. While at the College he was a room mate for short time with Lee Will, also was for about two months with D. D. Briggs and two others, room mates together. He was a smart young man, but constitutionally ugly and was sent home from the College.
