PIONEER WOMAN DIED SUDDENLY

MRS. MARY GROSS DIED AT HER HOME IN COLO EARLY TODAY

Colo, August 24--The death of Mrs. Mary Gross, 84, which occurred ath here home here at about 7:30 this morning caused a distinct shock in the community.

While Mrs. Gross, who had lived alone, had been poorly for some time, she had not been taken worse until about 11 o'clock last night.

Margaret Donnelley, who had spent the night with her, got the breakfast ready and served the old lady, but about 7:30 entered the room again and found that she had suddenly passed away.

She leaves one son, Roy Gross, at Glenwood and a daughter Mrs. Jessie Rucker, whose home is at Belle Plaine.

No definite arrangements for the funeral have been made as yet.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Mary E. Gross was the daughter of Shadrach Bosley and Wealthy (Bartlett) Bosley. She married firstly, William M. Bishop, on 24 May 1866 in Mendota, LaSalle County, Illinois. Mr. Bishop died on 21 July 1876 and on 22 February 1883 she married secondly Cornelius Washington Gross in Story County, Iowa.

Jessie Rucker, mentioned in the article as Mary's daughter, was actually her niece, Jessie Mae (Frenzel) Rucker, daughter of Henry Frenzel and (Mary's sister) Sarah (Bosley) Frenzel.
