From Fredregill Family Funeral Home obituary, Story County, Iowa:

Arnold Klemme, 79, of Collins, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2012. Visitation will be on Friday, October 12, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at the Collins United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church with Pastor Lewis Flanigan officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Collins.

Arnold Klemme was born March 25, 1933 in Hardin county Iowa to Carl and Louise (Brandt) Klemme. He attended county school and Hubbard school. From there, he attended Iowa State for two years in a two year agriculture college. After college, he served in the army two years as a radio repair man in Massachusetts.

On September 23, 1956 he married Shirley Muhlenbruch in Dows, Iowa. They resided a short time on his home place by Hubbard and then they moved to a farm south of Nevada. From there they moved to the Ames area and finally settled on the farm by Collins, Iowa. After retiring they moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas.

Arnold was a member of the Zion Church at Hubbard and then the Collins United Methodist Church at Collins.

He belonged to the Cyclone Rollers a roller skating club while in college. He served on the Story county Farm Bureau board, extension council, Collins Township trustees, and was a member of the Pork Producers. He sold Pioneer seed and was a lifetime farmer. He had a great love for his family, was an avid sports fan, and a devoted cyclone fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Harold and Howard. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Shirley; daughter Dolores and husband Rod Deuel; son Douglas and wife Julie Klemme; son David; and grandchildren Kelsey, Emily, Mackenzie, Derrick and Andrew; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends.

The Klemme family extends a special thank you to the Collins and Colo Fire Rescue/First Responders, and the Story County Sheriff’s Department for all of your assistance.
