Howard Lowell Brooks
March 22, 1928 - September 6, 2012

Howard Brooks, age 84, of Kimberling City, MO, formerly of the Napier, Iowa, died September 6, 2012 in Branson. A gathering for family and friends will be held 5:30 -7:30 p.m. Monday, September 10th at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 11th, at the funeral center. Burial will be at Ames Municipal Cemetery following the service.

Howard was born March 22, 1928 in Napier, Iowa. He was the son of Stephen and Lucille Brooks. He went to Napier school graduating with a class of three. Howard married Rosella Erickson July 9, 1950 and devoted his life to her and their sons. They made their home in rural Ames one half mile from where he grew up and then later years moved to Kimberling City, Mo., residing there for the past 20 years.

He was a farmer, carpenter and a volunteer firefighter. During his time as a volunteer he served as the chief for the West Story Fire Agency in Kelly, Iowa. He has been a member of the Napier Methodist Church and First Christian Church in Kimberling City, Missouri. He attended the traditional service, Jenkins home bible study and the Senior Singles Group. He spent many hours going through family photos, chatting and visiting friends. Sharing and laughing about all the great adventures him and others did over the years. He especially enjoyed all the wonderful goodies at all the church and family functions.

Survivors include two sons, Mike Brooks and wife, Carolyn, and Dennis Brooks and wife Nancy, all of Ames; six grandchildren, Jessica, Brian, Allison, Emily, Kellee and Steven; seven great-grandchildren, Gage, Grant, Gigi, Hunter, Fynlie, Lilly and Benjamin; three sisters, Marj Nooteboom, San Clamente, CA., Mary Lu Brooks, Arizona City, AZ., Janice Miller, Hermosa Beach, CA., and a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Lucille Brooks, his wife, Rosella, a sister Bette Hawk and a brother Richard.
