Lorraine Dresser

BORN: May 27, 1920
DIED: August 17, 2012
LOCATION: Ames, Iowa

Lorraine Agnes Dresser was born on May 27, 1921 to Elmer and Goldie (Guertin) Foley in Osceola County, near Melvin, Iowa. At the age of 12, Lorraine's family moved to Sibley, Iowa where she graduated from Sibley High School. She married Lloyd Dresser on May 29th, 1939 in Sibley.

Most of her life was that of a mother and homemaker. When the family moved to Ames in 1952, she spent several years working at the United Methodist Ministers Credit Union and later part time in the Registrar's Office at Iowa State University. Lorraine was a member of Mary Greeley Women's Auxiliary, the United Methodist Women, and First United Methodist Church in Ames where she volunteered for numerous church related activities. Lorraine enjoyed reading, attending local sporting events, playing bridge and socializing with friends.

Lorraine passed away peacefully Friday, August 17, 2012 while at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames at 91 years of age.

Lorraine is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Lloyd, of Riverside Manor in Ames; her sons James of Ames and David (Carol) of rural Kelley; her brothers Roger of Sutherland Iowa, Donald of Los Angeles California, and Jack of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son-in-law Larry Taylor of Salmon, Idaho; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Mary; sisters Kathleen "Pete" Dwiggins, Beverly Klosterman, and Patricia Windes; and her brother Burdette Foley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to First United Methodist Church or the Boys and Girls Club.
