Dale Clifford Groomes
(July 4, 1920 - August 26, 2011)

Dale Clifford Groomes, 91 of Centerville, Iowa, died on Friday, August 26, 2011at the Continental Care Center in Seymour, Iowa. He was born the son of Winfield and Lydia (Ruch) Groomes on July 4, 1920 in Grant Township near Nevada, Iowa in Story County.

He was first united in marriage to Hazel Virginia Shaffer. After she passed away in 1963, Dale was then united in marriage to Juanita E. "Bobbi" Glenn on January 6, 1968 in Johnston, Iowa. He was a farmer and a Grounds Keeper for Iowa State University at Ames, Iowa for many years.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his first wife, Hazel V. Groomes; 2nd wife, Juanita "Bobbi" Groomes on August 8, 2002; brothers, Glenn, Forrest and Alvin Groomes; and a sister, Bernice Myers; son-in-law, Gene Vladeff; daughter-in-law, Judy Clark; and a granddaughter, Kathleen Black.

Dale is survived by his sons; Robert Groomes and his wife, Donna of Lexington, South Carolina, Don Groomes and his wife, Zereda of Shipley, Iowa and Tom Groomes of Phoenix, Arizona; Step-chidlren, Carole Vladeff of Lehigh, Iowa, Peggy Kauzlarich and her husband, Bernie of Rathbun, Iowa and Artis Gene Clark of Altoona, Iowa; Three grandchildren, Zachery Groomes, David Michael Groomes and Jamie Lynn Groomes; step-grandchildren, Carole Jean Borland and her husband, John, Doug and Brad Clark, Jenny and her husband, Derek Wilkerson, Brad Hall, Jeff Kauzlarich and his wife, Michelle and Greg Kaularich and his wife, Penny; one great granddaughter, Carly E. Bosacco; Step-great grandchildren, Dale Black, James Black, Nathan Black, Britni Borland, Jack Borland, Shawna Parrish, Tessa Kauzlarich, Madison and Tyler Clark, Shelby, Reagan and Lauren Wilkerson; step-great, great grandchildren, Joey and Anna Black and Lane Parrish; brother-in-law, Gene Glenn and his wife, Joan of Plano, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 11 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Terra Amundson officiating. Burial will follow at the Southlawn Cemetery in Seymour, Iowa. Visitation will be held with the family on Tuesday from 9 am until the time of services at the funeral home.
