Mr. Floyd Wesley Langland, 93, Neosho, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, August 1, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family after a full and prosperous life.

Floyd and Francis, his twin brother, were born on September 10, 1918 to Nellie and Severin Langland, in Williams, Iowa. He was raised on a farm in central Iowa with seven siblings, Margaret, Arlene, Gladys, Delores, Lowell, Don, and Francis, of which Lowell and Francis survive. He graduated from Story City High School. He joined the Army Air Corp, serving 4 1/2 years through WWII as a crew chief on various aircraft; this began a long aviation career with a focus on rocket and jet engines. As a Department of Defense employee, he was stationed at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas and Rocketdyne, Continental, Teledyne in Neosho before retiring in 1981.

Floyd is survived by his beloved wife, Esther, of nearly 67 years. Daughter, Joan and husband, Larry, of Wichita, KS. Sons: Wes and wife, Bonnie, of Colorado Springs, CO, Mike of Neosho, and Warren and wife, Shelly, of Neosho. Grandchildren: Chris and Scott Hearne of Wichita, KS, Kirsten Langland of DeSoto, KS, Cameron and Jordan Langland of Oceanside, CA, Leigh Brown, Desiree Bridges, and Bethany Langland of Neosho, Aimee Haley of Rogers, AR. Tara Rew of Harrisonville, MO. Lindsay Langland and Lauren Langland of Joplin, MO, Ryan Hines, Salt Lake City, UT, Blake Hines of Des Moines, IA, and Brooke LeMasters of Joplin, MO and fourteen great-grandchildren.

We celebrate this life well lived and honor him for his loyalty, and steadfastness as a son, a brother, a veteran, a husband, a father, a friend, a patriot, and a servant leader. His unselfish, untiring, and inspiring commitment to what is honorable and good have been recognized and emulated by all who knew this wonderful man
